This week on Wednesday Window Shopping on Etsy, the theme is decorating your home for fall!  There are so many wonderful items on Etsy for enhancing your home decor...here's a sampling of some things that will help you dress up your home in honor of the fall season!
Fall is in the air by The Joy of Color
These standing flowers will warm up any room with there autumn and Holiday hues. It is a lovely decoration for any room, or your office table. It is a perfect Holiday gift for your mom, grandma, and friend. A gift any hostess will be happy to get.  This listing is for 3 standing flowers on a base.

With this listing you will get 1 FREE, hand painted, greeting card.

Size: flower about 1.5" High - about 10"

Made out of Das - cold clay painted with Acrylic paint and varnished with protective finish.

Each one of my objects is hand made and hand painted so the one you get could vary slightly from the picture. Each item is unique.
ACEO - Original Acrylic Painting - Autumn Leaf - Fallen by Shirley's Art Shop

ACEO Original Painting - Summer #24 - "Fallen" - 3-1/2 x 2-1/2"

As Autumn approaches, I already have fallen leaves on my front walk. As I looked closely at this curled-up shriveled leaf, I loved the abstract shape it made and how it seems to be reaching out.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. These highly collectable yet affordable works of art always measure a standard 2.5" x 3.5". Art Cards are versatile - they can be matted and framed as a work of art, hung in groupings or collages, collected in books, traded, given as gifts, or simply enjoyed as is.

This ACEO is an original acrylic painting (NOT a print) on 140lb. cold pressed acid-free Canson Montval watercolor paper. It has been lightly varnished for durability and is signed and dated on the back.

All image and reproduction rights ©2010 Debbie Shirley and remain with the artist.
Beautiful layers of antique lace, sheer multi color earth tone fabric, five stitch patterns, rust orange wool flowers and vintage buttons top a sturdy tight woven cream colored canvas fabric. Envelope style back also features a wood grain vintage button to help keep pillow cover snug.

Fits a 12x16 pillow form, actual pillow cover measures slightly smaller for a full fit.

The lovely earth tone fabrics and thread let the textures take center stage giving depth to this nature inspired pillow.

The perfect home décor item for fall, with a lovely primitive feel, toss it on your favorite chair or bench and enjoy!

Wednesday Window Shopping on Etsy!

Well, lately I think I've been thinking of the end of summer and the crisp beauty of autumn.  So let's look at some wonderful picks from Etsy that are all about autumn!!  So let's begin!

Autumn Tequila Sunrise Flower Earrings  by Jewelry by NaLa

Lovely hand dyed 14mm tequila sunrise ruffle frosted Lucite flower bead caps fade orange into gold and hold beautiful 6mm fiery lemon yellow and orange fuchsia two tone clear Czech glass bell flower beads. Copper brown seed beads and 4mm AB honey amber Czech glass faceted rounds form the flower stamen. Antiqued brass bead caps, melon beads and daisy spacers finish the design. Earrings dangle 1 1/2 inches from the tops of antiqued brass no lead or nickel lever backs.

Autumn Scene In Pastel by Dale B. Craft
Original pastel of an autumn scene in beautiful bright color-comes framed and matted - actual pastel measures 16x20

This gourd bowl measures 7 1/2 inches tall and 31 inches around. The maple leaves were woodburned then cut out. The many fall colors were then added with dyes, then sprayed with poly urethane.

Social Shopping Networks Part Two--This Next

I discovered ThisNext when a fellow jewelry artisan recommended one of my necklaces...thanks August Studios!!

ThisNext  sends visitors down one of three paths: Discover, Recommend and Shopcast. The discover section lets users browse products recommended by others. Clicking on a item allows them to add it to their wishlist, recommend it, or find out where to buy the product. Users can recommend products by creating themed lists, or simply by clicking on an easy to install 'Add to ThisNext' browser button.
Appealing to the blogging crowd, ThisNext's standout feature is shopcasting: bloggers can create small banners for their website. These shopcast badges either display their own recommendations or those of the ThisNext community, broadcasting the products they love or must have.
So I started playing around with it and here's what I came up with:

This content requires Flash Player 8 or higher.

Powered by ThisNext. Get Widget!

And this is the blogcast

Here are some sweet products I discovered at ThisNext. Check them out!
There is also a way to post this information directly to Blogger or TypePad and code to embed for other blog types.

ThisNext, unlike some of the other social shopping networks does not have groups so it's a bit more challenging to find other handmade artisans using this network.  They do have a rich and lively community which is highlighted by its Maven Program.  Mavens are the leading and most influential members of the ThisNext community. They are the tastemakers and trendspotters that make ThisNext such an awesome place to be. They find the most unique products from the coolest stores, find them first, and write informative and interesting recommendations.

ThisNext is definitely worth a look-see if you are looking to get your products seen in a wide audience.  The tools make it simple and easy to use because we all know that time is our scarcest resource in running our handmade indie business!  Have fun with ThisNext!!

Wednesday Window Shopping on Etsy!

The theme of this week's window shopping trip is gifts for Dads! In the USA, Father's Day is June 20th so I thought I'd do some window shopping to help us get some ideas and showcase some of the wonderful handmade offerings for Dad you'll find on Etsy!

FAMILY Word Shape Masculine Photo Album for Father's Day

How about this really cool photo album from Simply Inviting Cards?

What would make a better gift for your family man this Father's Day than this retro-inspired, masculinized word shape photo album? Drawing inspiration from worn leather, old west saloons, retro-style background bursts, pinstripe button down shirts, and tobacco smoke-stained wallpaper matched up with my characteristic edging techniques, there's no reason this album doesn't say ''100% Man''!

Each spread of this photo album is decorated with an earthy and grunged up patterned coordinating papers and is finished with tarnished metal eyelets. Each page is lovingly distressed and aged by hand with walnut colored ink. At 6 in. by 12 in. (15.25 cm x 30.5 cm), this is also a one of a kind item!

Hand Painted Side Plate - Hungry Bear

Dad would really enjoy this hand-painted hungry bear plate from Jimbo Art!  As these plates are individually hand-drawn, each one will differ slightly from the photo. Can personalize the plates for Father's Day!!!

This plate is 9":

  • Dishwasher proof
  • Do not use abrasive material on surface
  • Original artwork done by JimboArt; directly drawn onto late using specific on-glaze ink
This makes for a really unique gift that Dad will cherish for years to come!

Stainless Steel Snake Bracelet

How about giving Dad this really gorgeous chainmaille bracelet by Armored Hearts?

Stainless steel rings are woven in the Full Persian weave. Don't miss out giving Dad the opportunity to wear some metal fear around his wrist!

The beauty of stainless steel is the more Dad wears this bracelet, the more shiny it becomes!  So it's definitely a solid piece of jewelry that Dad can wear every day and think of you!! :)

Well, hope you enjoyed this week's addition of Wednesday Window Shopping on Etsy!  Dedicated to Dads everywhere!  Have a great week!
