New Orleans Blues Vintage Style Necklace II

The focal point of this 24 inch necklace is the extra large faceted crystal in a deep rich color blue. Add to that an ornate elongated bead cap, an antiqued bronze filigree decorated with vintage lucite flower and swarovski crystal accents, and a large vintage key. The piece is tied together with a wonderful antique brass chain and held together with a vintage style swirly toggle clasp.

I was listening to bluesy,jazzy New Orleans style sax music while creating this necklace reminding me of the rich and vibrate history of that city that not even nature can take down!

Passing Through Time Together Vintage Style Watch Pendant

Isn't this watch beautiful? It takes you back through time with it's filigree casing and bold and beautiful watch face. I added a wonderful cornflower blue polymer clay rose, mounted on antiqued bronze filigree and wire wrapped a gorgeous opalescent faceted teardrop and hung both these charms from antiqued bronze chains. The piece is tied together with 29 inches of antique bronze chain and an antiqued bronze lobster claw closure.


Did you even meet someone and right away it felt like you had know them a long time?  There was a familiarity about them that made you feel like you had perhaps known them in another lifetime...like you were passing through time together! That's what I was thinking about when I made this design!

Red and Bold Vintage Style Wire Wrapped Ring

This large red wire wrapped ring really makes a statement! I started with a wonderful 14mm czech glass pearl nestled between two antiqued brass bead caps and wire wrapped it in antique brass wire.  I love the color!  And it was really fun to make!

This 18"(with a 12" second strand) necklace began with a lovely pink teardrop with a matte finish surrounded by lucite flowers, swarovski crystals,tiny czech glass flowers, and swarovski pearls wire wrapped above it. Chains with czech glass flowers dangle beside it. I used beautiful antiqued brass rope chain, double stranded, and on the second strand is a cute brass Ouija Board charm adorned with a czech glass flower and tiny pearl. The piece is tied together with an antiqued bronze swirly toggle clasp. It's a good witch necklace so only spells of enlightenment, prosperity, and love will come from the wearer!

Timeless Love Vintage Style Necklace by Zur Designs

The focal point of this necklace is a vintage rose, once part of an old brooch, that I found at an antique shop. I mounted that on a filigree and tied it in a pale green ribbon and then surrounded this centerpiece with chains filled with czech glass beads, fabric flowers and unique antiqued bronze findings. The 16 inch vintage twisted rope chain  is so beautiful and is held together with a swirly antiqued bronze toggle clasp.

Chain, Chain, Chain

So I recently went to visit my family in Rhode Island.  My sister Pat rents a beach house and family from all around visits there plus my sister Jude and her family live right down the road!  It's an awesome opportunity to all get together.  NEVER SAW SUN ONCE!!  But it didn't matter because we gathered to do puzzles and play games and have great meals and I got to use my favorite jewelry bench to do some metal work!

While I was there, one of my family members gave me some of my great aunt's sterling silver links and chain parts.  These were not ordinary silver, my great aunt worked in a jewelry warehouse in Providence, Rhode Island for over 45 years.  Rhode Island has a rich history with the jewelry trade and has long been considered the jewelry capital of the world.  They earned this title primarily due to the fact that many of the Italians came over to this country and brought with them the Italian machines that were always noted for producing high quality materials that led to the superior quality of their finished work.  That's the silver I was given in a big old brown box!!

So here's some of the things I've been making with these wonderful silver components!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!

I'm really looking forward to Memorial Day Weekend!  There are going to be parties and gatherings with lots of family! It starts with our annual birthday cookout on Saturday, because both my sister and I  have birthdays next week and have been celebrating together for more years than either one of us want to admit!  There will be lots of family and close friends and it's supposed to be a gorgeous May day here in the Berkshires.  There's bound to be good food, music, and lots of fun!

Then down to Rhode Island to celebrate the holiday weekend with more family...it's going to be great!

That got me thinking about the idea behind Memorial Day...it commemorates the members of the United States Armed Forces who fought and gave their lives for this country.  But during times like this, when many men and women will not be able to be with their families on Memorial Day, it should be a way of honoring both the soldiers and their families for their strength, courage, and spirit as well.

So in honor of all the families who are separated this Memorial Day, I made this design and called it Dog Tags.

 This 17" necklace combines vintage and contemporary. The vintage bead cap holds a fiery 24mm Swarovski Crystal Vitrail Teardrop pendant and sits side by side with a perforated brass tag pendant. The whole piece hangs on antiqued bronze chain and is held together with an antiqued bronze toggle clasp.

It's my small way of honoring the soldiers and their families in the present and across time!
